The Attock police revealed on Monday that an elderly man, who was gunned down on October 14, was killed by his son over property inheritance.

According to Express News, the incident took place in Mari Village of the Punjab district with the case complainant in the FIR being the son himself.

DSP Zaigham Abbas told the media that in the incident 72-year-old Muhammad Iqbal was gunned down while on his way to a mosque to offer his fajr prayer.

The police official said that in the probe it was found that the victim's son, who has been identified as Shaukat, committed the crime.

In the investigation it was also revealed that the victim’s son, who registered the case, is himself the culprit.


Authorities claimed that Shaukat has confessed to his crime. The culprit works as a tailor and has three children.

Police said that the motive behind the crime was over money and property in inheritance.

A 30-bore pistol, bullets and the motorcycle used in the crime have been seized by the law enforcement agency.

Criminal proceedings are being launched against Shaukat.

On October 23, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf female worker had shot and injured her husband over domestic dispute in Peshawar.

The incident had taken place in the Faqirabad area, with the alleged culprit having being identified as Nazuk Bibi.

Authorities say the couple exchanged hot words and in a fit of rage, Nazuk shot her husband.
