Commonwealth games: McGoldrick to receive belated gold
Boxer was stripped off his title after failing a dope test.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Welsh boxer Sean McGoldrick has been bestowed with a belated 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medal as Sri Lankan Manju Wanniarachchi was stripped of his title after failing a doping test.
Wanniarachchi beat McGoldrick in the bantamweight final in Delhi. McGoldrick will be awarded the gold medal at a specially arranged ceremony in Cardiff today. McGoldrick lost the 56kg weight-division final to Wanniarachchi on countback.
