RAHIM YAR KHAN: At least three people died of jaundice on Friday after battling for their lives at Sheikh Zayed Hospital. The increasing number of casualties by the disease has set alarm bells ringing for health officials in the region.

Doctors at the health facility told Express News that three patients suffering from jaundice were admitted to the health facility in critical condition. They said the patients were being provided treatment but their condition deteriorated that resulted in their deaths.

The victims were identified as 70-year-old Sardaran Bibi, a resident of Dahrki, 56-year-old Naseem Bibi, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan City, and 55-year-old Hamid Farooq, a resident of Gukshan-e-Nasir.

Rahim Yar Khan has been badly affected with jaundice that has claimed lives of several people in 2018.

While commenting on the situation, health experts told Express News that contaminated underground water and unavailability of water filtration plants are the main cause of spread of this disease.
