CPO orders strict action against culprits

A jubilant aerial firing on Friday claimed life of a woman during a wedding ceremony at Dhoke Mangtal.

Accordint to police the woman, identified as Nazia, sustained injuries during aerial firing in a marriage party. She was rushed to Railway Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

When contacted with Rata Amral police station, the official confirmed the incident and said that a case has been registered against the violators. City Police Officer (CPO) Ahsan Abbas took strict notice of the incident and directed to take strict action against the violators.


He has issued directives to SP Rawal to arrest the culprits at the earliest.

Aerial firing in jubilation has become a nuisance for residents of Rawalpindi. Talking to APP, area residents expressed grave concern on the indifferent attitude of police and the district administration who have failed to take any action against the practice.

They warned that aerial firing could result in injuries to passersby and even death. “Fireworks and aerial firing have not only become a routine during marriage ceremonies but are also becoming an integral part of any celebrations.
