Non-payment causes petrol shortage in Punjab
Sources said that PSO could not import oil due to the non-payment of dues by the government.
LAHORE:
Parts of Punjab faced a serious petrol shortage due to the government's failure to pay dues worth Rs 150 billion to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and oil refineries.
Sources said that PSO could not import oil due to the non-payment of dues by the government.
This resulted in petrol shortage in some cities of Punjab including Lahore.
Meanwhile, PSO expects the crisis to worsen if the dues are not cleared in the next two days.
The non-payment also resulted in an increase in the prices of petrol in the Sargodha region including parts of Khushab, Bhakkar and Mianwali.
Moreover, people in Multan, DG Khan, Bhawalpur and other cities were seriously affected by the shortage of fuel.
