Conference being organised to showcase the northern regions of Pakistan

The first international conference on the mountains of Pakistan will be held in Paris on October 25, reported Radio Pakistan.

The conference is being organised by the country's embassy to showcase the majestic northern regions of Pakistan. The conference further aims to highlight opportunities for mountaineering, trekking, skiing, rock climbing, paragliding and kayaking and will discuss eco-tourism and sustainable development of the regio.

More than five hundred mountaineering enthusiasts are expected to attend the event.


World-renowned mountaineers, adventure sports specialists and experts on eco-tourism will be part of panel discussions.

On July 31, the Pakistan Army rescued a Russian climber from a peak in northern Pakistan, said a statement from the army's media wing.

Stranded at about 20,000 feet on Latok I peak in the Biafo glacier region, Alexander Gukov was rescued by the Pakistan Army Aviation.
