Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said on Tuesday that former president Asif Ali Zardari should prioritise meeting his legal team over politicians.

Fawad made the remarks in response to the Zardari-Jamate-e-Ulema-e-Islami (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman Monday joint presser where the two floated the possibility of tabling a no-confidence motion against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government after terming its conduct 'undemocratic'.

Zardari urges political parties to help oust Imran’s govt

“Zardari should prioritise meeting his legal team over politicians,” he said in an early morning tweet. "The Pakistan Peoples Party co-chairman will understand the worth of this free counsel sooner than later."

“Governments cannot come and go with resolutions; you need public mandate. Zardari is only left with notes. He lost votes as he had busied himself with collecting (currency) notes,” Fawad remarked.

Zardari, Fazl see saving democracy biggest challenge

Zardari, his sister Faryal Talpur, Omni Group’s Anwar Majeed, former Pakistan Stock Exchange chairman Hussain Lawai and Summit Bank Senior Vice-President Taha Raza are among those being investigated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for alleged money laundering of over Rs35 billion through fake accounts.

Earlier this year, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar had taken suo motu notice of the matter and directed FIA to expedite the inquiry.
