ISLAMABAD: A fiber-optic broadband service provider has added Quetta to its network for provision of high-speed internet, high-definition television and crystal-clear voice calls.
This was announced during an event jointly organised by StormFiber and Senator Naseebullah Khan Bazai on Monday.

Addressing the ceremony, Bazai said, “Fiber-optic broadband internet access paves way for economic growth by allowing access to technological innovations prevalent in more urbanised regions.”
The senator said StormFiber’s Fiber to The Home (FTTH) infrastructure would help fuel economic engine of the province as a whole, making everything from tele-medicine to remote workers a reality.
“Already, high-speed broadband has been a contributing factor in revitalisation and development of urban cities throughout the developed world and we hope to leverage the same for our province as well,” he added.

Balochistan districts without internet for one year

StormFiber Managing Director Fawad Yousuf Laher said, “It is high time that our people experience quality of life at par with that of developed countries, particularly when it comes to basic necessities such as internet, which is instrumental for intellectual, social and economic development.”
Cyber Internet Services Chief Operating Officer Maroof Ali Shahani highlighted the impact of increased fiber-optic broadband penetration on gross domestic product of countries, concluding that both types of infrastructure - highways for transport and highways for information technology - carry equal importance on road to economic development.
“A better-connected Pakistan translates to an increase in GDP, an increase in overall tax collection, improvement in standard of living, and empowers vital facilities such as education, entrepreneurship and digital exports, including software-related outsourcing,” said the COO.

USF expected to spread broadband services

StormFiber has entered Quetta with coverage in some areas and intended to extend its reach into other parts of the city soon. The areas are Model Town, Shahbaz Town Phase I, II, III and IV, Jinnah Town, Samungli Housing Scheme, Arbab Town, Kakar Town, Lehri Gate and Gull Bagh.
The company is eager to bring fiber broadband and triple play services across the country.
Quetta is the seventh city added to StormFiber’s FTTH network, joining the ranks of Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Hyderabad, Faisalabad and Peshawar.
This is the fourth city to be energised by StormFiber within span of a year following launches in Multan and Hyderabad in July.

Over 250 far-flung Balochistan villages to get 3G services

Popularly regarded as the ‘Fruit Garden of Pakistan’ due to its numerous fruit orchards, Quetta is a small provincial metropolis where city and cantonment officials are striving to catch up with the pace of national urbanisation.
With students of the province flocking to Quetta for education, entrepreneurship is on rise in the city as academic institutions such as University of Balochistan are initiating programmes to encourage such endeavours.
Access to reliable high-speed internet will bolster the city's struggle for development, spurring growth in all sectors.

New broadband plan to cover 12.8% of Balochistan

With ultra-fast and stable broadband service being an important catalyst for economic development in modern era, the introduction of fiber-based gigabit internet connectivity of StormFiber (backed by Cybernet) will help Quetta bridge digital infrastructure gap and bring it on a par with other global metropolitan cities.
To further these national interests, StormFiber aims to deliver consistent internet services on FTTH infrastructure, along with HD TV and crystal-clear voice services as it continues its expansion throughout Pakistan.
