HYDERABAD: In a suspected case of domestic violence, a man allegedly set his wife on fire but timely intervention by the neighbours saved her life. The incident took place on Saturday in Qasimabad town of Hyderabad.

The young woman, Farwa Shoro, received burn injuries on 10% of her body. She has been admitted to the Burns Ward of Liaquat University Hospital.

Bhitai Nagar police station SHO Sikandar Mustafa informed that the suspect, Nasir Shoro, who works at a real estate agency, has been arrested and the FIR is being registered. Nasir allegedly sprinkled his wife with petrol before setting her ablaze.

Farwa's brother alleged, while talking to the media, that his brother-in-law wanted to kill his sister. He added that she was often subjected to domestic violence.
