Two people received burn injuries in a fire that broke out at a petrol pump located in a congested area of Quetta on Sabzal Road. Clouds of dense smoke could be seen reaching the sky. Panic gripped the surrounding areas. After hours-long struggle, five fire brigades and a vehicle of the metropolitan corporation managed to douse the fire.

According to the locals, illegal petrol was being sold at the mini petrol pump for quite some time. On Sunday afternoon, a sudden fire broke out at the pump where drums containing petrol and diesel started exploding. The sound of explosions struck fear into the hearts of the people residing nearby.

Locals said petrol was stored in a big tanker at the pump.

On the other hand, six vehicles of the fire brigade and the metropolitan corporation were busy dousing the fire and after hours of struggle managed to succeed.

According to rescue services, two people received burn injuries in the fire and were shifted to a nearby hospital.

It is pertinent to mention that Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan issued clear instructions to shut down all illegal petrol pumps, but such business was still running.
