NAP action: K-P police arrested 0.2m suspects in 2018

Thousands of guns, ammunition and explosives recovered

The provincial police have so far in 2018 arrested as many as 221,054 suspects in around 12,483 search and strike operations conducted across the province, recovering cache of arms and ammunition.

This was disclosed in an official communiqué issued by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) police department in a review of operations conducted under the National Action Plan (NAP) in the province.

The data released by the police added that 87,186 suspects were arrested during the operations with 15,719 guns of different calibre along with 296,856 cartridges and 2,331 kilogrammes of explosive materials were recovered from their custody.

Moreover, the police and security forces had checked 402,294 houses during the operation. Further, 11,786 first information reports (FIRs) were registered against suspects for failing to submit the tenant information forms.

Similarly, 1,328 FIRs were lodged against hotels for not verifying the information of the guests which stayed in their rooms.


Likewise, security inspections of educational institutions were also carried out and 732 schools were booked for insufficient security arrangements.

During snap checking on 85,221 checkpoints, 133,868 suspects were held. As many as 10,471 different kinds of weapons with 241,279 rounds of ammunition of variable calibre and 34 kilogrammes of explosive material were recovered from them.

Acting against illegal immigrants, 272 suspected illegal Afghan migrants were detained for not having registration and valid documents.

As many as 2,294 FIRs were registered on the misuse of loudspeakers while 2,435 suspects were detained.
