PML-N seeks another NA session

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Thursday moved another requisition to call a National Assembly session to discuss negotiations of the government with the International Monetary Fund and a proposed increase in the electricity tariff.

Signed by 87 members of the NA, the requisition has been submitted by PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah, according to a notification.

The letter requests summoning of the session under Article 54(3) of the Constitution to discuss the negotiations of with the IMF and the proposed power tariff hike. The purpose for seeking another session is also to allow party President Shehbaz Sharif to further shed light on the National Accountability Bureau’s inquiry against him.

PML-N leader Pervaiz Malik said it was a common practice that whenever a session was called, production orders for members of the house in custody of law enforcement agencies were issued, allowing them to attend the parliamentary proceedings.

He said the speaker’s post was neutral and he was duty-bound to protect the rights of all the members of the house.

Moreover, it was the right of every member to attend the National Assembly session whereas in this case, the member also happened to be the opposition leader, he added.

“The party will protest if the production orders for Shehbaz are not issued”.

Issues mentioned for discussion are both every pertinent, that needs to be brought under discussion in the house, whereas NAB shenanigans will also be discussed.


Whereas PMLN parliamentarian in Punjab has also decided to protest against the decision of Punjab Assembly speaker for barring six of its members for their miss conduct during the budget session.

According to an MPA, their plan was to protest for a 15 minutes or so on the assembly stairs before proceeding into the session, where Hamza Sharif was scheduled to give his speech.

MPA Malik Muhammad Ahmad, who when was not allowed to speak on a point of order during the budget session lead to brawl like situation, holding a press conference in Lahore on Thursday said that PML-N does not support any hooliganism from even its own party members.

But, he said that members of treasury benches were also equally responsible.

He said that speak should be judicious and also bar their six members from entering into the house from treasury benches, who he said were equally responsible for what had happened during the budget session.

He also chastised the government for issuing ‘fake’ pictures of Punjab Assembly.

He said that the two pictures, the actual and the fake both are circulating on the social media. He said prior to this a fake signature controversy was kick started which was never clarified and now this.

He said that it was the government that was increasing the political temperature in the country. He said that PMLN wants the government to function and deliver on their promises.
