Police say initial investigation points to honor killing incident

Five persons, including two women were gunned by armed men in Balochistan's Nasirabad district 'in the name of honour' on Tuesday.

Authorities say the incident took place in Goth Haibat Khan area of Baba Kot in Tehsil Tambo, where armed men opened fire at a house killing all those present inside of it.

District Police Office Javed Shah Ghirsheen rushed to the scene and shifted the bodies to district hospital Dera Murad Jamali for autopsy.

“The motive behind the crime has been ascertained to be in the name of honour,”Ghirsheen said.

The police official added that the armed men managed to escape after committing the crime.

Ghirsheen added that two women were among those killed as well.

He said that area residents had claimed that the incident is an honour killing.

He however, said that they were looking into other aspects of the case.

The victims have been identified as Irshada Bibi, Lila, Hameedullah, Manzoor Ahmed and Rahimdad.

“All the five deceased received multiple bullet wounds causing their deaths right there and then,” hospital officials said.

Police have been carrying out raids to arrest the accused persons with no headway being made till now.
