Building Bridges: PM lays foundation stone for bridge

The bridge will cost Rs1.62 billion, while the dual carriage way along the bridge is expected to cost Rs3 billion.

MULTAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani laid the foundation stone for the Musa Pak Shaheed Bridge in Multan’s Jalalpur Pirwala tehsil on Saturday. The new bridge is expected to reduce the distance between Lahore and Karachi by 50km. The project is part of a series of ongoing development programmes introduced by the prime minister for the under-privileged areas in Southern Punjab. The bridge will cost Rs1.62 billion, while the dual carriage way along the bridge is expected to cost Rs3 billion. The prime minister will also inaugurate a project for clean drinking water costing 100 million in the slums of Jalalpur Pirwala.
