Vaccination: Anti-measles drive kicks off in Rawalpindi

884 teams, 221 fixed centres, 208 medical officers, 1,768 mobilisers and 52 supervisors are participating in the drive

RAWALPINDI: A two-week-long anti-measles campaign Monday kicked off in the entire district to cover more than 874,384 children from six months to seven years of age in all tehsils and union councils, District Health Officer(DHO) Dr Uzma Hayat said.

She informed that 884 teams, 221 fixed centres, 208 medical officers, 1,768 mobilisers and 52 supervisors are participating in the drive to facilitate the citizens and serve them at their doorsteps.

The DHO said over 70,000 children have so far administered vaccine on first day while 874,384 children the set target of the campaign would be achieved by October27. Dr Uzma urged the citizens, particularly the parents, to come forward and play their role for elimination of disease from the society.  "Parents should cooperate with the special teams so that the set target could be achieved," she added.
