Land grab: Arrests warrants for MNA issued

Court summoned him in connection with his alleged involvement in land-grab case but he did not turn up.

LAHORE:

An anti-corruption court on Saturday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Tariq Shabbir Khan Meo, a National Assembly member from Lahore, for his failure to appear before the court in a land-grab case.

The court directed authorities concerned to ensure Meo’s appearance before the court by June 8.

The court had issued summons to him on several occasions for his appearance before the court in connection with his alleged involvement in a land-grab case but he did not turn up. The Anti-Corruption Establishment had lodged a case against Meo and others including some bureaucrats for allegedly illegally occupying a plot of land in 1996 by preparing a fake title deed. Tariq Shabbir Khan Meo was elected MNA on Pakistan Peoples Party’s ticket from NA-129, Lahore. He also holds the office of the parliamentary secretary for law and justice.
