LAHORE: A paralysed man has been sentenced to six years behind bars and fined Rs500,000 for the rape of an 8-year-old in Lahore.

Muzaffar Hussain, 60, fell unconscious in the additional district and sessions court during the sentencing hearing as he is a paraplegic.

Subsequently, an ambulance was called over to the court and the man was shifted to the jail.

Hussain's lawyer had contended that his client could not commit the crime as his lower body was paralysed since 2011 with the case lodged against him in 2016.

However, petitioner's counsel implored the court that Hussain had raped the minor girl based on the medical report's findings.

The lady doctor who conducted the medical report, revealed that Hussain had used his fingers to sexually assault the victim.

It is worth mentioning that Batapur police had registered case against Muzaffar under section 376 in 2016.

Earlier on October 8, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by her friend in Jaranwala City police limits in Faisalabad.
