Police official says breach of rules to invite action

Quetta Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Traffic Nazeer Kurd has said the e-challan system will be launched soon across the city to charge people violating the traffic rules.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, SSP Kurd said that around 72,000 vehicles were fined for violation of traffic rules this year in Quetta. He added that strict action was underway against traffic violations to ensure smooth traffic.
The SSP said traffic signals are being installed at eight different places for addressing the traffic related issues in the city. He added that car parks would be established to help the flow of traffic. He said two car parks would be completed soon, which would help address the traffic chaos. He said over Rs10.99 million had been collected from drivers for violating traffic rules.
Kurd urged that teenagers should not be allowed to drive to avoid traffic accidents. The SSP said thousands of teenagers were fined for driving vehicles in an attempt to prevent road accidents in the city.
He stressed the need for raising awareness about traffic rules in society. “Our teams have been holding lectures in numerous educational institutions to spread traffic awareness,” he added.
The SSP said that Quetta Traffic Police had seized 205 illegal motorbikes and 194 un-registered vehicles this year. He added that action had been taken against 2,111 vehicles with tinted glasses
