Karachi police officer killed in robbery bid
It is too early to say if this was an incident of target killing, say counter-terrorism officers

Unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire at a police officer in New Karachi, resulting in his death. Two other people were injured in separate firing incidents in Surjani Town and Orangi Town.
Police bust gang of robbers, two muggers
The police officer was killed in New Karachi Sector 11-D in front of house 112/22. Superintendent of Police (SP) Shabbir Baloch told The Express Tribune that the slain police officer had just reached home, after withdrawing his father's pension from a bank, when unknown assailants tried to rob him. When the victim resisted, the robbers opened fire. The officer was shot in the chest and died on the spot. His body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as 42-year-old Syed Ahmed Abbas Rizvi, son of Ghazanfar Mehdi.
Baloch further said that the police had recovered one shell of a .30 bore pistol which had been sent to the laboratory for examination.
Police constable martyred while resisting robbers in Karachi
Talking to media at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, counter-terrorism officers, Raja Umer Khatab and Mazhar Mashwani, said that the moment the victim and his father reached home, two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle opened fire on him. They said that it was too early to say if this was an incident of target killing.
Meanwhile, Khatab said the police had collected important evidences while investigating the target killing of a traffic police personnel at Ahsanabad that suggested involvement of banned organisations.
