SSGC hosts seminar on gas theft
SSGC has taken swift action against miscreants involved in gas theft
KARACHI:
In the past one year, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), under the Gas Theft and Recovery Act 2016, has taken swift action against the miscreants involved in gas theft. Since its inception in July 2017, the Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Control Operations Department (SSCGTO) has conducted 950 raids against domestic, commercial and industrial consumers. With the help of police, SSGC has got many miscreants arrested and FIRs registered against them. As a result of these actions, 994 mmcf of natural gas has been saved from theft. This was highlighted by SSCGTO DG Brigadier Muhammad Abuzar in an awareness seminar organised at the Sir Syed University. The DG SSCGTO said the department was focused on complete monitoring, strengthening of operation and prosecution. SSGC officers stressed that the stakeholders like students, by raising awareness and informing SSGC of gas theft, had contributed to the cause.
