Pubic money should be spent on people’s welfare’
Minister says people will pay their dues honestly if they trust process of transparency
BAHAWALPUR:
Punjab Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad has said the public’s money should be spent only on their welfare.
He expressed these views while inaugurating the excise and taxation service centre for one-window operation in Model Town Block A, Bahawalpur, on Sunday. Speaking as the chief guest, the minister said people would pay their dues honestly for the collective welfare of society if they trust the process of transparency.
He said nine facilitation centres have been established across Punjab to ensure the provision of excise and taxation facilities under one roof. Of these, two of the centres have been established in Southern Punjab. These facilitation centres would work in two shifts.
He directed authorities to behave politely with the people coming to the facilitation centres and to resolve their problems without any delay.
Excise and Taxation Bahawalpur Division Director Iftikhar Ahmad, Excise and Taxation Officer Bahawalpur Rao Javed Akhtar, former president of Chamber of Commerce Ejaz Nazim, and others were also present on the occasion.
It was said during the briefing that the process of modernising the excise and taxation department, and bringing it at par with international standards, was in progress. He said that under the new system, anyone could get information on property tax, car registration and token tax, transfer of ownership and number plates with a single click on an android application.
Director Excise and Taxation Muhammad Iftikhar said the excise and taxation department has a great is in best relationship with the business community and significant steps were being taken for the resolution of problems faced by the businessmen in paying their taxes.
He said the establishment of service centre was a step towards creating public convenience and timely receiving of taxes. The provincial minister formally inaugurated the ticket centre by pressing the button.
