Anti-encroachment campaigns begin in Peshawar

PESHAWAR:
With the federal government razing buildings which encroached on state land in the federal capital, the provincial government has also decided to kick start a massive anti-encroachment drive in the provincial capital, its suburbs and surrounding areas in the erstwhile frontier regions.
On Sunday, Assistant Commissioner for Town-1 led a massive anti-encroachment on Charsadda road and in Sardar colony where dozens of buildings, small makeshift huts and shops were bulldozed and government property recovered.
The officials were accompanied by a heavy contingent of police. This is the second massive anti-encroachment campaign in the provincial capital since 2015.
Govt to launch operation against encroachments in Punjab
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shahid Ali Kahn told media persons that the operation will be carried out without any discrimination until all the government property was recovered. “We warn them [who have encroached upon] to voluntarily remove encroachment otherwise we have all the required machinery to recover government property,” Ali informed media persons.
