Veteran actor Scott Wilson whose career spans over 50 years has passed away after a tough battle with cancer, reported Variety.
'The Walking Dead' handed maximum fine
The 76-year-old actor was a high-profile member of The Walking Dead between 2011 and 2014. His death was announced on Saturday on the hit TV show's Twitter handle. It read, "We are deeply saddened to report that Scott Wilson, the incredible actor who played Hershel on The Walking Dead, has passed away at the age of 76. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Rest in paradise, Scott. We love you!"
Wilson played a rural farmer on the series. He was a regular face in the second, third and was killed off in the fourth season of The Walking Dead. News of his death was followed after the show's announcement at New York Comic Con stated that the late star would be amongst the cast in the upcoming season which debuts later today. Wilson had already filmed all of his scenes before his passing.
AMC released a statement that read, "Scott will always be remembered as a great actor and we all feel fortunate to have known him as an even better person. The character he embodied on The Walking Dead, Hershel, lived at the emotional core of the show. Like Scott in our lives, Hershel was a character whose actions continue to inform our characters’ choices to this day. Our hearts go out to his wife, family, friends and to the millions of fans who loved him. Scott will be missed."

Wilson is survived by his wife, Heavenly who is an artist and a lawyer. No plans of his memorial have been announced yet.
