Stage actor Megha to start singing career
Artist talks exiting theatre industry after nearly two decades, focus on music and crooning for films

Pakistan's renowned stage artist, Megha, has decided to exit the theatre industry and kick off her singing career. The actor that ruled the stage for nearly two decades will soon be launching a music video. She states that she has no plans of returning to theatre and her sole focus will now be on singing. This news comes as a shock to many, including her colleagues and fans around the world. Megha is, and has always been, one of the most famed and expensive stage artists to date – popularly known as the “killer of stage”.
Not only was she a stage artist but has also released CDs of her routines. The star has also performed across the globe, garnering fans from all around the world. Megha is known for being extremely soft-hearted and has been popular amongst fellow artists due to her kind, loving nature. She was also very charitable, offering financial help to the lower staff and always helping the needy. Therefore, her colleagues are sad to see her go.
Although Megha has also been a part of numerous films, her true identity lies within theatre. According to stage producers, she was a very original artist – one with her own style and individuality. They believe a lot of their productions’ success comes down to the fact that Megha was part of the cast leading to crowded theatre halls.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Megha shared her vision and excitement about venturing into singing. In the same light, she hopes to croon tracks for local films too. “There were various reasons that led me to make this decision. The most important one being the fact that singing has been a passion of mine since childhood.” She continued, “Because of my booming acting career within the last two decades, I have had no time to sing. But I think now, it is my time. I believe there are many issues within the singing industry that need to be rectified and that can only be done so with newcomers.”
Talking about her passion, Megha said, “I believe in working hard and being focused. I have a habit of doing my best and whatever I do, I do it with passion and dedication. This is why I believe I cannot act and sing simultaneously – I want to give all my attention to my singing career.” The star revealed that she is currently studying music. “I am learning all sorts. I assure my fans that they will not be disappointed once my music videos launch – they will be impressed. I am lucky to have great contacts within the film industry who are offering me to commence my singing career with their films. I have also had many showbiz personalities wishing me luck, which I truly appreciate.”
Senior film and stage artist Shiba Butt wished her luck for the future. “Megha was an amazing theatre artist. Her work was of great quality and she never compromised with her identity. This is the reason that we all acknowledge her hard work and theatre services. We all wish her well and expect her to have a very bright future within the music industry.” Megha shared she will soon be arranging a press conference, detailing the reasons behind her transition from theatre to music.
