SHABQADAR: A day after a local political leader was gunned down in Mohmand, locals on Friday torched three houses of proclaimed offenders with the district administration later arresting 20 people for violating the law.

On Thursday, Awami National Party (ANP) Sagi Chapter Chief Sher Rehman Khan was gunned down by two unidentified, armed men. The alleged assailants were chased and killed.

On Friday morning, locals gathered to offer funeral prayers for Sher and then buried him at his ancestral graveyard in Sagi.

After the burial, locals and some government officials told The Express Tribune that a local Jirga decided to demolish three houses belonging to Haji Speen Gul while tribal elders also decided to evict his family from the area for violating local customs by hiring assassins to kill his opponent.
