SARGODHA: Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) disconnected electricity supply to a water filtration plant in New Satellite Town.

The power supply was cut over the non payment of Rs 13.2 million by the tehsil municipal administration. After the disconnection, Zafar Colony citizens, Gilwala, Mehboob Colony and several adjoining colonies of New Satellite Town have been deprived of drinking water.

Tehsil Municipal Officer (TMO) Sher Muhammad Gondal said that the TMA could not pay the electricity bills of Rs 13.2 million because of the unavailability of funds. “The power suspension has caused severe problems for locals in the area and we don’t know how we will pay the money in time,” he added.
