Prompt action by Rescue 1122 saves people’s lives in Bhakkar
At least 13 citizens were reported dead on spot in different accidents

Rescue 1122 officials saved 81 lives on an average each day during the month of September in Bhakkar.
At least 34,415 calls were received by rescue service and of them 1,029 were emergency calls, while 985 were related patient transfer service. In addition, 1,431 patients were given first aid on the site, while 13 people were reported dead on the spot.
The statistics were revealed by District Emergency Officer Naveed Iqbal during a media briefing in Bhakkar on Thursday.
He said the rescue services timely attended and responded to 1,029 emergency calls comprising of 166 road accident complaints, 627 medical calls, 11 fire incidents and three building collapse incidents. Besides, he maintained that 24 calls were received related to street combats, 10 drowning incidents and 196 complaints of miscellaneous nature.
Iqbal pointed out that out of the 180 people injured in road accidents, 27 were given first aid on the spot, while 15 victims were provided medical treatment. He mentioned that 154 road crashes were caused due to over speeding and negligent driving, while 13 people were killed on the spot.
He disclosed that 11 fire emergencies were reported and of them three incidents took place in commercial areas, three in residential areas and others in open areas. The rescue services remained active in their response and saved properties worth Rs8.3 million, he said.
The district emergency official said in 627 medical emergencies, 316 men and 304 women were shifted to hospitals after first aid. He added that 24 street combat incidents took place in one month in which 27 people suffered injuries who were also shifted to hospitals after first aid.
In addition, he elaborated that a man was killed and three people were injured in three different building collapse incidents. He highlighted that the rescue department also attended calls in which 1,596 people were hurt in various medical emergencies during Muharram gatherings.
He said the patient transfer service of rescue 1122 also shifted 417 patients in various medical facilities to different hospitals. In addition, the rescue services also organised various fire safety drills and emergency management courses in various Union Councils and colleges.
Naveed Iqbal expressed concern over increasing number of incidents and appealed the citizens to take responsibility of their actions. He said that accidents and emergencies could be avoided and precious lives could be saved if people follow traffic rules. “The community safety wing of Rescue 112 is spreading awareness among the citizens in this regard,” he remarked.
