Punjab Food Authority to install incinerators in five cities

Incinerators would be installed for discarding adulterated and unwholesome food products

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) will install latest incinerators in the five cities of Punjab for discarding substandard and adulterated food items. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by PFA Director General Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman on Wednesday.

The DG has directed Additional Director General (operations) Rafia Haider to prepare a feasibility report on priority basis. He said incinerators would be installed for discarding adulterated and unwholesome food products on the pattern of Punjab Agriculture and Meat Company (PAMCO) and the health department. In this connection, PFA would take help and suggestions of both the departments for installation of incinerators.

Usman disclosed that the incinerators would be installed in Lahore, Sahiwal, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and DG Khan. He said a vast expenditure and labour force was used to bring the adulterated products in the big cities. Now, the time and investment would be saved after installation of furnaces in different cities of Punjab, he said adding that it was a responsibility of everyone to help save the environment.
