A Pakistan vendor has been jailed for groping a woman wanting to buy an abaya at a Dubai shop in March, Gulf News reported on Tuesday.

Police claimed to have nabbed the man from the shop in front of the woman. A sergeant said she "pointed at the accused and claimed that he had touched her top." The man said he had touched her "by mistake", the policeman said.

The defendant's lawyer maintained the vendor had no criminal intent. "While he was taking her measurements, he mistakenly touched her top. He did not intend to do so."
