Mother, son slaughtered in sleep in Lahore
There were no evidence of robbery and the motive of the suspect was just to kill the victims

An elderly woman and her son were slaughtered with a sharp weapon in Quid-i-Azam Industrial Estate Police area on Tuesday morning.
Dr Adeeba Farooq 70, along with her son Umar Farooq, 45 and grandchild Nehal 17, were living in a house in Township area. On the day of the incident, a suspect entered into their house, slit the throats of the victims with a knife. However, Nehal remained unhurt as he was asleep in another room.
A police team reached the spot on information, shifted the bodies to the morgue for autopsy and collected forensic evidence from crime scene.
According to initial police investigations, the suspect was alone and he entered the house from back door. He murdered the victim with a sharp purchased knife. After killing the suspects, he changed his clothes, took a bath and left. The suspect used a plastic bag to open the doors so that his fingerprints could not be obtained.
The suspect did not took anything from the house. He just entered, killed the victims and left. However, the suspect was captured in a CCTV footage while leaving.
Police said according to circumstantial and the forensic evidence, it seemed that the suspect was familiar with the house and family. There was no evidence of robbery and the motive of the suspect was just to kill the victims. However, further investigations, evidence and arrest of the suspect would reveal the motive behind the murder. Police have registered a murder case against the unidentified suspect and said they were investigating the matter keeping in view different angles including a family dispute, property dispute and others.
Meanwhile, the body of a young woman was recovered from a hotel in Civil Lines police limits. The victim, identified as Rukhsana Bibi, was strangled to death according to initial police investigations. The victim had checked in the hotel with a man named Javed. In the morning, her body was recovered. However, the suspect was missing. Police shifted the body to the morgue for autopsy.
Initial police investigations suggested that Javed was a government employee. The victim had a property dispute with her in-laws. Police said further investigations would ascertain the cause of the murder.
A 35-year-old woman died in an accident at Raiwind Road. The victim, identified as Akhtar Bibi, was travelling on a motorcycle when a truck hit the two-wheeler. The victim fell down and suffered fatal injuries. She was admitted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival. After the incident, a large number of people took to the streets and staged a protest. They blocked the road and demanded the immediate arrest of the suspected driver and for justice.
