9 terrorists killed, 7 soldiers martyred in North Waziristan operation

Friendly forces suffered no casualties as per details of the ISPR statement.

Earlier in September, at least nine terrorists were killed in an intelligence-driven operation in North Waziristan tribal district which also resulted in the martyrdom of seven servicemen, including an officer.

The operation was ordered after intelligence had been received that a group of terrorists were hiding in a compound after infiltrating from across [the Afghan] border.

Pakistan Army had launched a massive military operation, codenamed Zarb-e-Azb, in North Waziristan in 2014 against foreign terrorists and their local cohorts.

The terrorists were comprehensively defeated and their command and control network was decimated. Hundreds were killed, while the rest managed to slip into Afghanistan taking advantage of the porous border.

Terrorists frequently use their bases in the border regions of Afghanistan as a springboard for launching attacks in Pakistan. Despite repeated requests from Islamabad, Kabul has not taken action against these terrorist sanctuaries.
