FAISALABAD: A man allegedly poisoned his wife to death in Khurrianwala police station limits on Sunday.

Police said that the victim’s brother Muhammad Saleem submitted a complaint at the police station in which he stated that his sister Noreen Kausar, a resident of Ghausia Colony, had tied the knot with Arsalan about two years ago. He added that the couple also had a one-year-old son named Talal.

“Soon after getting married, the couple developed differences and would argue over minor issues,” the official maintained. The complainant told the police that on the day of the incident, he was at his house when one of his relatives informed him that Noreen had died.

Saleem stated that he immediately rushed to his sister’s house and found out that she had died after consuming a poisonous substance. The victim’s brother suspected Arsalan of poisoning his sister.

He demanded that the police arrest the culprit and investigate the case. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and have started investigations.

Earlier, a woman was poisoned to death by her husband over a domestic dispute in Lahore.

The woman, identified as Sumera Bibi, tied the knot with Murtaza a couple of years ago. Police said their relationship had soured and arguments were a matter of daily routine. On the day of the incident, Murtaza poisoned his wife to death after a heated argument and escaped.
