Crackdown on drugs: Police target street peddlers

ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad Police on Saturday conducted a grand and targeted search operation against criminal elements and arrested nine drug pushers, three outlaws and 22 suspects besides recovery of 8.81 kilogram hashish and 210 gram heroin from them.
Following directions of State Minister for Interior Sheheryar Afridi and Inspector General Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad, SSP (Operations) Amin Bukhari constituted special teams for an effective crackdown against criminal elements.
These teams under the supervision of SP (Saddar) conducted grand and targeted search operations in areas of Ramana and Shalimar police stations including areas of Mera Badia, Sector G-12, Dhoke Kashmirian, Aslam Market and areas in its vicinity. These operations were participated by DSP (Shalimar Circle), Station House Officers of Ramana and Shalimar police stations, personnel of Counter Terrorism Force (CTF), Anti-Riot Unit (ARU) and Rescue 15. Police teams arrested nine drug pushers and recovered cache of narcotics from them.
A total of 1,350 gram hashish was recovered from suspect Sher Muhammad alias Shera; 1,210 gram hashish from Danish; 1,120 gram hashish from Khalid Mehmud; 1,320 gram hashish from Naveed Butt; 1,280 gram hashish from Altaf; 1,190 gram hashish from Owais; 1,320 gram hashish from Ejaz Buttt; 210 gram heroin from Irshad Bibi.
Moreover one dagger was recovered from Ehtesham and two iron punches from Zahoor. Cases have been registered against these arrested suspects and further investigation is underway from them. SSP Islamabad Syed Mohammad Amin Bukhari has directed all Station House Officers for effective crackdown against those involved in drug peddling activities. He asked for renewed efforts to curb such practices and clear this menace from society. He said that performance in this regard would be reviewed on a continuous basis. He said that the menace of drug peddling would not be allowed in educational institutions.
