ISLAMABAD:
President Dr Arif Alvi has called for taking measures to promote exports and focus on employment generation in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. Talking to Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, who called on the president at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, the president said progress in these sectors held the key to future development of the country. He said efficient use of ICT could help improve the public service delivery structure through digitalisation of ministries and departments of the government. He said research and development in the sector needed to be prioritised in order to open new avenues of business and investment. The president also appreciated the steps being taken by the IT ministry for the promotion of information technology and telecommunication in the country.
