2,520 patients administered substandard injections in Layyah

Around 2,520 substandard injections were administered to patients in the emergency ward at Layyah District Headquarter Hospital.

The drug testing laboratory maintained that Ostinac injections, supplied by the Punjab government’s medical depot store, were substandard. However, the injections were administered to patients prior to the laboratory’s approval.

Drug Inspector Dilshad Zaman informed the hospital’s MS Dr Attiqur Rehman. Drug inspectors also seized the remaining 15,120 injections. The pharmacy issued the injections before the laboratory’s report. According to medical experts, using injections without the drug testing laboratory’s approval is a serious mistake on the department’s part.

When contacted by The Express Tribune, the hospital’s superintendent and Deputy Drug Controller Muzammil Khan did not comment.
