Amir dropped from Pakistan squad for Australia Tests

17-member squad has been formed keeping in mind UAE conditions

The National Selection Committee headed by Inzamamul Haq after consultation with Captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Head Coach Mickey Arthur has announced the 17-member Test squad for the two-match Test series against Australia.

Fast bowler Mohammad Amir has been dropped from the side while left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz makes a comeback into the team. Mohammad Rizwan has been picked up as reserve wicketkeeper.

“The team has been selected keeping in mind the conditions of the UAE,” said Inzamam. “Mohammad Amir has been dropped from the side while Wahab Riaz and Mir Hamza have been picked.”

He added: “Three spinners, Shahdab Khan, Yasir Shah and Bilal Asif, have been kept in the squad keeping in view the UAE wickets. Furthermore, Mohammad Rizwan makes a comeback in the Test squad [as reserve wicketkeeper].”

The first Test is in Dubai from October 7 with the second in Abu Dhabi from October 16.

Muhammad | 6 years ago | Reply I think it's a good decision to avoid amir, but the inclusion of Wahab Riaz is not a good decision. Selection Committee ignored Junaid Khan which is a poor decision.

Come one dude, give some time to new guys. havent we already gave enough chances to Umer Akmal / Hafeez / shahzad etc. Dont know why Wahab is back, i thought we have got rid of him forever.

Yul47 London | 6 years ago | Reply It will probably do Amir good so he may have an opportunity to spend time with a bowling coach and perhaps watch Wasim Akram classic vides, his bowling action and its projectory. He was the master of swing bowling able to move the ball both ways with virtually the same action. I believe after some coaching experience in UK, that Amir may have to change his grip on the ball, holding it just a touch loose as his current grip prevent the ball to swing. I hope Amir reads comments made by his fans and for him to come back.

AD | 6 years ago | Reply Absolutely baffling call ,he will very effective in Aussie conditions. He should have rested for Asia Cup as he qas playing for long without break and UAE pitches had nothing for him.

Ramallah Khan | 6 years ago | Reply Pakistan needs to recall old cricketers like Fawad Alam, Umer Akmal Mohd Hafiz and Ahmed Shezad to play well in the team than the new boys who were below par in Asian Trophy. Why is there so much politics in PCB?

Amir | 6 years ago | Reply Absolutely unfair on Amir. He is a bowler which strike fear in opponent, who then attack other bowlers and takes risk thus others end up getting wickets. And if we look at the side, how many catches in the initial stage of game have been dropped by fielders off amir's bowling? Too many. The person who should be removed is Sarfaraz himself. What has been his performance in the last many games? He shouts and curse the team members and this is not leadership
