Senior artists should not be neglected: Jia Ali
Actor believes veterans play a huge role in the success of the industry
LAHORE:
Famed model and actor Jia Ali believes that the local entertainment industry needs to provide more opportunities to young artists in order to tap into international markets.
Revival of Pakistani film industry leaving veteran actors behind
Talking to Express News, the 48-year-old diva revealed that youngsters should be given more chances to work with senior actors so that they can be well-groomed. "In Bollywood and Hollywood, senior stars have special roles written for them and are respected a lot. But in Pakistan, they are often neglected which is not a good practice," stated Jia.
She added that comedy films and musicals are the need of the time and it makes her happy when aspiring artists work towards producing quality content. The actor feels that this can in turn prove to be beneficial for the industry's success. "In the past, nothing was planned in the film industry which is why people and the community faced many difficulties."
Jia stated that the advent of new technology has eased film-making and improved its quality over time. Despite being inexperienced, the youth is able to produce good films but evidently there are some basic technicalities that they still lack in.
Memorial evening: Tribute to artists who are no more
"If the new talent keeps working hard, we will soon be able to tackle all the hurdles that the showbiz industry faces. Senior artists are like an institution for us and we should benefit from their experience," she mentioned. "Unless and until we don't treat the veterans of our industry with respect, our youngsters will never be able to excel in their career."
