Syria to get S-300 anti-air missiles from Russia: minister
Announces after the ministry accused Israel of indirectly causing the downing of a Russian military plane

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Monday that Moscow will supply an S-300 anti-missile system to Syria within two weeks.
The announcement comes a week after the ministry accused Israel of indirectly causing the downing of a Russian military plane in Syria that killed 15 servicemen.

The aircraft was shot down by Syrian anti-aircraft systems but Moscow said Israeli air force jets flying in the same area had put the Russian plane in the line of fire.
Around the time the plane disappeared, the Syrian coastal city of Latakia came under attack from “enemy missiles”, and missile defense batteries responded, Syrian state media reported.
Israel’s military, contacted before Russia alleged Israel was to blame, declined to comment.
