ISLAMABAD:
Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf's driver was taken into custody after his official car hit and killed a motorcyclist in Islamabad on Saturday.

Police said Ashraf’s driver Abid Nawaz was behind the wheels of his official vehicle, when he collided with the motorcyclist on the Islamabad Expressway near Zero Point.

The victim, Zeeshan Abbasi, was a constable in the Rawalpindi Police.

Soon after the deadly accident, people surrounded the vehicle and called the authorities, who later took Nawaz along with the vehicle to the Aabpara Police Station.

Abbasi was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) but could not survive.



The deceased was driving in the fast lane when he was hit by the car. The expressway has four lanes with an additional lane for cyclists and motorcyclists on each side.

SHO Aabpara police station, Inspector Khalid Mehmood Awan said that they had taken the driver as well as the car into custody and were registering a case of reckless driving against him.
