Doctor escapes attempted sexual assault
Young doctors hold protest against the incident, go on strike

A man allegedly tried to rape a woman doctor at Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Express News reported on Thursday.
A police official said that B* was performing duties at the emergency ward of the health facility. He added that when she went to take a nap in another room, a sanitary worker later followed her in to take advantage of the situation.
The official maintained the accused allegedly tried to sexually assault the victim. However, her screams for help alerted others in the vicinity. “Security guards and other hospital staff reached the spot and caught the culprit,” he mentioned. Later, the accused was handed over to the police and a case was registered against him.
While taking notice of the incident, Sheikh Zayed Hospital and College Principal Dr Mubarak Ali suspended Emergency Ward Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Azmi.
Meanwhile, young doctors held a demonstration in front of the principal’s office against the incident and went on strike. They demanded that the hospital administration take measures to ensure the safety of female staff.
They also demanded separate offices for doctors and a space for a canteen. They alleged some staff members were involved in teasing women medics.
Earlier, the attempted to assault a 12-year-old girl was reported in Rahim Yar Khan.
Police said M* was playing outside her house with other children when Ghulam Mustafa allegedly grabbed the girl and took her to a nearby house. It was after some time that family members noticed that the girl was missing. They launched a frantic search for the victim and came across the house where the accused had taken her. They discovered him in a room, attempting to assault the child.
