Medical science and the latest technology have made the treatment of brain tumors possible and now patients are able to lead healthy lives after such operations.

This was disclosed by renowned Manchester University Neurosurgeon Dr Shafqat Bokhari who delivered a lecture during a training workshop at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences. Professor Rizwan Masood Butt, Professor Khalid Mahmood, doctors and professors of all three neurosurgery units of the Lahore General Hospital were present on this occasion.

Neurosurgery Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood, in his address, said visible progress had been made by developed countries in the medical field. He advised third-world countries to follow such developments in America, United Kingdom and other developed countries to reap the benefits of modern treatment methods.

He said that the role of young doctors was very important in this regard. He urged them to come forward and benefit from advanced studies. Dr Mehmood believed this would increase their own abilities to serve humanity and treat their patients in a befitting manner.

Professor Khalid Mahmood said that with the passage of time, science was developing further. However, it was also increasing the number of diseases which are proving to be a big challenge for doctors. “Medical experts should take steps to increase their studies and experience, while also expanding knowledge.”

The workshop agreed that a brain tumour is a dangerous condition and can threaten the patient’s life. However, it was pointed out that modern methods and surgery techniques had made it possible for the patient to lead a routine life.

Ameeruddin Medical College Principal and Lahore General Hospital Professor Mohammad Tayyab thanked the British Neurosurgeon Dr Shafqat Bokhari for visiting Lahore General Hospital and delivering a lecture on brain tumours. He said the visit would prove to be beneficial for surgeons. Professor Tayyab said Dr Shafqat Bokhari had pointed out that Pakistani doctors were professionally sound and capable of serving humanity around the globe.
