Commerce chamber wants Blue Area modernised

ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI) on Wednesday urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Islamabad Municipal Corporation (IMC) to develop Blue Area into a modern business centre.

“Blue Area is the main business and commercial hub of the federal capital, while carpeting of its roads has been completed, the issues of parking, street lights and cleanliness have to be resolved,” said ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed.

He was talking to a delegation of Blue Area All Traders Welfare Association (ATWA) led by its president Yousaf Rajput.

ATWA Secretary General Raja Hassan Akhtar, Patron-in-Chief Mian Akram Farid, Chairman Malik Saghir Ahmed, Group Leader Syed Amin Pirzada and others were in the delegation.


The newly elected office bearers of ICCI Ahmed Hassan Mughal President, Senior Vice President Rafat Farid and Vice President Iftikhar Anwar Sethi were also present at the occasion.

Addressing the delegation, the outgoing ICCI president Waheed said Blue Area was the largest business bay of the federal capital and urged that CDA and MCI should focus on developing it on modern lines to facilitate the growth of business activities.

He said that roads carpeting in Blue Area has been started, which is laudable, however, other development works should also be undertaken in this business area. He said Blue Area needed better facilities of car parking to cater to the needs of traders and customers.

Muhammad Naveed Malik Senior Vice President and Nisar Mirza Vice President ICCI thanked ATWA Blue Area delegation for visiting Chamber and assured that ICCI would fully cooperate with the association in resolving key issues of traders of the area.
