The encroachments on the route for 9th and 10th central Muharram procession in the areas of MA Jinnah Road, Empress Market and Kharadar were removed last night for smooth flow of processions.

The drive was also conducted in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Malir, Korangi, North Karachi, New Karachi, Nazimabad, Gulberg among others from where illegal encroachments were removed before 9th and 10th Muharram processions and majalis.

The KMC staff was directed that the routes be cleared from all sorts of makeshift stalls, cabins and any type of materials kept on the main roads and arteries from where the processions are to move to reach Imambargahs.

The drive was carried out for three days to clear all the encroachments with the help of the district administration and area police and it aimed to help in smooth flow of processions and reduce any security risk during processions.
