Quetta Commissioner Muhammad Hashim Ghilzai has vowed to take strict action against violators of building code, saying the district administration is taking all possible steps to end the traffic issues in Quetta.

Presiding over a session to review the burgeoning traffic issues in the provincial capital, the commissioner said, “Preparation of the summary to establish Traffic Engineering Bureau and Building Code Act is in its final phase.

“Complete elimination of encroachment in the city has become imperative to resolve the traffic issues. The district administration will allocate a separate place for the barrow vendors.”

Quetta Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Tahir Zafar Abbasi, Quetta Mayor Kaleemullah Kakar, Quetta CCPO Abdul Razzaq Cheema, QDA DG Muhammad Farooq Langove and district officials were present in the meeting held to resolve city’s traffic woes.


The session decided to launch strict action against violators of the building code as many tall buildings were constructed in blatant violation of the code.

“After amendment in the building code act, the law will be fully implemented in the city,” said Ghilzai.

Lamenting lack of awareness among citizens over using garbage cans, Ghilzai said, “The district administration has purchased modern machinery to lift city’s garbage, but the citizens are found throwing garbage on streets instead of cans.”

On the burgeoning traffic flow in the city, the commissioner directed authorities to launch strict action against illicit vehicles and auto rickshaws.
