MULTAN:
Lord Nazir Ahmad, the member of the British House of Lords, has said that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rahman, despite being a member of the Kashmir Committee for long, did not do anything for the cause.

He was addressing journalists at the residence of former federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi in Multan.

Ahmad alleged Indian Prime Minister Narendera Modi is an extremist Hindu. “Modi can come to Pakistan to attend weddings but cannot tolerate Pakistan being economically developed,” he said.

“Indian Army is inflicting violence on Kashmiris and involved in bloodshed, and the British government has resorted to silence on Kashmir cause because of its ties with India,” he added.

Lord Nazir also said European Union observers also agreed that the recent general elections in Pakistan were free and fair but “it is a dilemma that whenever any party loses, it says there were massive irregularities”. He appreciated the initiatives taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan on coming into power.

“Imran is an honest man and has started fulfilling promises made to the nation,” said Lord Nazir, adding that the critics should give the government three months before evaluating its performance.

Lord Nazir said that oversees Pakistanis would donate whatever amount they could to the dams fund. “I appreciate the initiative of the Chief Justice of Pakistan but he should also reform criminal justice system and provide speedy justice over the millions of cases pending in courts”.

He extended condolences to the Sharif family on the demise of former first lady Kalsoom Nawaz and said that Hassan and Hussain Nawaz should have come to Pakistan if they hadn’t done anything wrong and faced the court after their mother’s burial.
