Rising trend: ‘Cosmetic surgeries very risky’
'It is misleading to say that there is zero risk of cosmetic or plastic surgeries', says Dr Niazi
ISLAMABAD:
Plastic and cosmetic surgeries are not only expensive but risky for health but the trend has picked up in society and demand among the youth is rising to reshape face and body features, said Dr Nadeem Ahmed Niazi, a well-known dermatologist said.
It is misleading to say that there is zero risk of cosmetic or plastic surgeries as these procedures always carry risk and things might go wrong as a person goes under knife or for laser treatments, he explained.
Certainly, there is high risk involved in a number of cases and people pay no attention to the risks, he added.
Dr Nadeem said quacks are common in our country and they are looting and deceiving innocent people by making false claims and patients most of the time did not get any benefit from the surgeries. A well trained and genuine practitioner will not hide the risks and side effects.
“As a doctor I always advise people to avoid going under knife and laser for getting rid of extra fat, reshaping of body parts or just to look attractive,” he said.
People should adopt healthy habits, exercise to burn extra calories and eat a healthy diet, he suggested.
'' A well known foreigner public speaker and media personality Oprah Winfrey says that looks doesn't remain for long but skill and determination does and she is a living proof of this," he quoted.
