Three injured in Peshawar judicial complex firing incident

Accused managed to conceal and smuggle in a pistol despite tight security checks

PESHAWAR:
Three people were injured, including a lawyer, on Saturday when an armed individual opened fire within the premises of the Peshawar judicial complex.

 

The police said the accused - Saeedullah - opened firing at Lal Sher, injuring him and his counsel Khalil. A boy serving tea nearby was also injured in the firing.

The attacker was apprehended by police shortly after attempting to flee from the scene. The firing was a result of a dispute with Sher who was appearing in court.


The accused managed to conceal and smuggle in a pistol despite tight security checks at the entry points of the building.

The injured were rushed to Lady Reading Hospital. Khalil and the youth reportedly in stable condition while Sher is critical.

In March, at least two people were killed when two rival groups opened fire at each other in the compound of Rawalpindi’s district judicial complex.

Sessions court gun battle kills two

The incident took place outside the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ejaz Ahmad Buttar after a suspect under police custody came under attack by an armed assailant.

According to police, the suspect and the attacker both sustained serious bullet wounds after the latter was also fired upon by the associates of the former in retaliation.
