Student’s death sparks protest in Lahore

The protesters demand justice for the departed soul

LAHORE: A large number of people staged a protest when a student of graduation was crushed to death by a speeding trailer in Mohalanwal on Friday. The deceased, identified as Muhammad Atif, was a resident of Jambar Khurd Pattoki. Police said he was standing at a bus stand when a trailer hit him, killing him on the spot. A large number of students and relatives of the victim gathered and blocked the road for traffic. They also chanted slogans against police for not arresting the suspect. They also set the vehicle on fire. The protesters demanded justice for the departed soul. Later, police reached the spot and tried to disperse the protesters but in vain. Police resorted to the use of force, to which the protesters resisted and both the parties clashed. Later, the protesters ended the protest after talking to the police officials over the issue.
