QUETTA:
Three guards of Balochistan Levies got martyred on Friday in a bomb attack that apparently targeted vehicle of district Pishin’s Assistant Commissioner Barshor Ameer Zaman Kakar.

The incident took place 51km away from Balochistan’s provincial capital at Pishin Bypass in early hours of Friday.  According to levies’ officials, unidentified terrorists had planted a remote-controlled bomb on a motorcycle parked along the road.

“The bomb attached to the bike was detonated through a remote control when vehicle of the AC Kakar crossed it. The blast resulted in death of three levies personnel, while driver of the car also got severe injuries,” an official said.

Pishin’s Additional Deputy Commissioner Waqar Khursheed also confirmed that three security personnel were martyred but the AC, who, according to him was apparently the target, was not inside the car. “The terrorists wanted to target the AC. However he wasn’t present in his vehicle,” the ADC said.

A heavy contingent of the law enforcement agencies (LEA) personnel and rescue workers rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured driver to Pishin’s District Headquarters Hospital. Later, the driver was taken to Quetta in view of his critical wounds.

The martyred personnel were identified as Abdul Baqi, Jaffar Khan and Asmatullah while the injured driver was recognised as Ainuddin, who is being treated in the Civil Hospital’s Trauma Centre.

Footage of the crime spot showed a mangled motorbike lying on the road with security forces cordoning off the area. No group claimed responsibility for the attack till the filing of the report.
