GUJRANWALA: Gujranwala police have undertaken foolproof security measures to ensure the safety of 6,954 majalis and 1,594 processions across the region during Muharramul Haram.

He added 16,517 constables will be deputed across the division. “Apart from 4,601 national volunteers and 10,544 volunteers from societal entities, 746 members of Aman Committee will also be present to assist police,” he pointed out.

He maintained that 15 walkthrough gates, 1,641 metal detectors and 69 CCTV cameras had been installed for the security of the majalis and processions. He said that the security plan will be strictly implemented during Muharram and that personnel will be deputed in accordance with it. “The DPOs are responsible to personally check security arrangements and brief police personnel deputed at various points,” the DPO said.

Shahid Hanif mentioned that police officials had been directed to consult Aman Committee management, members and office-bearers and a thorough plan of action should be adopted to provide safety to those participating in the processions and majalis.
